Last Week THIS Happened.

So, here’s a little known fact about me.

I’ve always not been a fan of my lower body.

Don’t get me wrong. I am grateful for a body that moves and legs that work.

I love my body.

I am grateful.

And yet, I have the power to maximize my body’s capabilities.

My upper body and torso respond super quickly to strength training.

Yet my lower body (like many men and women!) is a little slower on the uptake!

I decided to get freaking serious about catching up my lower half to my upper half.

For more than a year, I’ve been seeing my own trainer for one specific, heavy leg day each week.

I even added in a second leg day during the week on my own.

To keep my focus in check, I kind of thought that maaaaaaaybe if I had in the back of my mind that I might enter into a figure competition, I’d really stay focused on getting my rear in gear.

It was a little thought, a little whisper of a secret in the back of my mind, and one I haven’t acted on, despite being dedicated to my training.

It’s paid off. I’ve been pretty happy with my progress.

And I’d be totally cool leaving it at that and just loving my body.

But. I was having breakfast with some clients recently and they said, “weren’t you thinking of competing?”

They reminded me how I’m always encouraging others to reach their fitness goals.

It was now their turn to motivate me.

“Sign UP!” they encouraged!

And so, THIS happened:

Aaaaaaahhhhh!!!!!

I’ll be strutting my stuff in August in Scottsdale. Just far enough away to really dial things in, and just soon enough to keep that side of sweet potato tots off my breakfast order.

Starting next week I’ll share my progress with you.

I’ll try to be brave enough to post photos of my journey.

So, for those of you who are wondering about my isolated leg days, I am still and will always be a massive proponent of functional fitness and using your body weight as a whole for strength gains.

I still train that way, too.

I also believe in lifting heavy and doing sprints.

Sometimes we need a new goal.

And this is mine.

Eeek!!!!

Do you have any goals that have whispering to you in the back of your mind?

If so, I’d love it if you’d share with me in the comments below!

xo,

Andrea
