Last weekend I hosted an amazing event at Nordstrom.
The reason? Just because.
I have the greatest clients and friends ever and so why not give a killer strength training session just for fun?
I LOVE teaching group classes, especially set to the blaring music of my choice. The energy generated in the room fires me up. And I love that I can get my own great workout in too.
Nearly 20 of us squeezed our positive energy into our own private room that transformed into a gym once it was decked out with mats and exercise bands provided by Abby Bella Dance Studio.
I’ve taken classes at Abby Bella since they first opened and now teach a Total Body Toning class there on Saturday mornings and just love it.
Our other sponsors were pretty fabulous, too.
Have you started drinking your green juices yet? I’m pretty obsessed. They’re fantastic for keeping your immunity high and getting live enzymes into your bloodstream stat.
There is a gorgeous juice shop in Scottsdale called Kaleidoscope. They have this wonderful outdoor space that you can ride your bike up to.
They also sell salads and gluten and dairy-free baked goods.
They served us up these darling little bottles of organic, cold-pressed juice heaven.
I also recently met a food conscious girl who runs a company called Organic Salads in a Jar. Her name says is all, right?
She literally will deliver to your home or office an Organic Salad in a Jar.
Word.
My friends at Max Muscle supplied us with shaker cups (I use mine all the time) and copies of their magazine, which talks a lot about organics, healthful food choices, and offers wonderful exercise ideas and tips.
Their Tempe location does a free bootcamp on Sunday mornings.
My friend Dr. Jon Porman worked out with us and even provided Neurokinetic Therapy (NKT) assessments. It’s a treatment protocol that addresses muscular compensations that arise due to injury, overuse, etc.
He radiates health and joy. My kind of doc.
I wore this super cute Zella outfit.
SO.
Here is the workout we did. Anyone can do it with a little modifying (toes to knees, more weight to less or no weight).
We started with a dynamic warm-up of standing mummy walks, backward arm circles, and side lunge adductor stretches.
We did each circuit twice, with 10 – 15 reps per side.
CIRCUIT 1
Plank Walk Ups
Band Lat Pull-Downs
Back Lunges with a Knee Up to Balance
Squats
20 Second High Knees Cardio Sprint
CIRCUIT 2
Bent Over Band Rows (palms in then palms back)
Rear Shoulder Band Extensions
Laying Leg Circles
CIRCUIT 3
Band Wood Chops
Band Curl and Presses
Glute Bridges (Double and Single Leg)
FINAL CARDIO BLAST
50 Jumping Jacks
We were some sweaty betties at the end of this baby! This is totally my style of workout. Full body. Functional. Appropriate for most. Scalable. And freaking fun.
Afterwards the girls got to go play in the activewear department and pick out a new Zella headband and a pair of undies. 🙂
They got these goodie bags too.
Here were some of my favorite tunes from the workout:
Young Blood by Naked and Famous
Dark Horse by Katy Perry
Do What U want by Lady Gaga
This is What it Feels Like by Armin van Buren
The Monster by Eminem
Summertime Sadness by Lana Del Rey & Cedric Gervais
Give it a try! And let me know how it goes.
Until next time….
Love,
Andrea
